About

I received a classical fine art education, before becoming a successful typographer. After 5 year in calligraphy and hand lettering I found it too controlled and creatively constrictive. My abstract work is a reaction against restraint, instead emphasising joy, movement, and instinct.

My work explores the relationship between colors and shapes. I paint intuitively, tapping into the feeling, with no plan, just getting into the process.

Colour inspires my movement; the flow of marks building throughout my body, until I physically attack the canvas with paint and brush.

I'm fascinated by the sensuality of paint. Adding layer by layer, building up texture I develop a narrative of exploration.

I usually go for bright contrasting compositions and unexpected turns of lines to keep the viewer's eye moving across the painting. Painting is very therapeutic for me, it satisfies my thirst for visual aesthetics.
